wxgsi It’s always terrific to look around a professionally installed UK smart home so here’s a Crestron setup in a stunning house in Leicester, designed and created by Finite Solutions.
The Brief
A comprehensive yet cost effective solution was sought for this new build home with the key requirements being entertainment throughout, security and lighting control. The large family home needed to cater for 4 children of varying ages so flexibility of the entertainment options as opposed to music or TV quality and simplicity of use was the priority.
The Solution
To deliver the reliability and ease of use that the family required, a Crestron smart control system and Lutron lighting system were specified. These powerful systems deliver the very best performance for the areas of the system which were most important to our clients.

Flexibility
The Cinema room performance is extraordinary and features Sony 4k projection, 9 foot wide screen research projector screen and B&W CT series speakers in 7.1.2 configuration with Arcam amplification and processing.
To work within the overall budget simple Sonance in ceiling speakers and Sonos connect amps were paired in all rooms alongside a digital sky TV modulation system which allows multiple sky boxes to be viewed throughout the house in HD very cost effectively.
Smart home Systems
The Crestron system is operated by in wall touch panels in the kitchen, master bedroom and 1st-floor landing and by iPad and iphone in all other rooms and operates the houses heating, cooling, security, entry gates, music and TV systems
Other than TV’s and speakers all equipment is housed centrally in full height AV racks in an air-conditioned plant room. This centralised approach is core to most smart homes and provides tremendous flexibility as well as keeping all main rooms in the house clear of equipment.
End Result
The project is a wonderful example of following the clients brief carefully to deliver a very smart home to a tight budget that put emphasis on key functionality and provided the ease of use and reliability that was essential.
